What's Adopt-A-Trail?

Adopt-A-Trail is empowered by concerned citizens, businesses, and organizations who want to make the greenway experience as pleasant as possible.  This program is a great way to enjoy the greenways and trials while at the same time helping to keep them open, safe and in good condition!

Interested in Adopting a trail? Here is what you should know:

  • Volunteers shall be at least 13 years of age. Volunteers under 18 years old shall be closely supervised and have parental consent to participate in trail cleanups.
  • Each Group shall conduct at least two safety meetings per year.    Participants must attend a safety meeting conducted by the Group before participating in a cleanup event.
  • Groups shall be required to adopt a section of designated trail for a minimum of a one‐year period.
  • Groups shall be required to maintain their adopted section of trail at least four to six times per year.
  • The Group shall obtain its own supplies and materials and litter shall be disposed of properly.
  • See the Adopt-A-Trail Agreement below for more details.
